New Baldor Offering: Super-E Motor with Baldor Shaft Ground Brush
While the use of across the line motors is still common in industry today, the increased use of drives to control motors has become more prevalent. Motors controlled by drives are beneficial because they provide speed control on applications such as fans, pumps, and conveyors, allowing users to run their motors at optimum efficiency. One particular downside, however, is that in some applications the potential for common mode voltage increases, which can cause voltage spikes in the rotor. Ultimately, these spikes seek the path of least resistance -- the motor bearings, and can lead to premature bearing failure.
To provide solutions for these applications, we have listened to our customers and created a new line of motors – the Super-E® Motor with Baldor Shaft Ground Brush. Because we’ve had proven success through motor testing, we developed a line of stock motors with carbon brushes installed internally, offering our customers another option in our portfolio of stock shaft ground motors.
The stock ratings developed include 1 through 50 HP Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) or Open Drip Proof (ODP), Foot Mounted designs, along with 1/2 through 5 HP TEFC, C-Face Foot Mounted designs. Adding a shaft ground to the motor provides a path to ground to divert shaft currents away from the motor bearings, thus increasing the life of the bearings.
Baldor also offers multiple shaft grounding options on custom motors as well. Additionally, a wide variety of stock motors can be modified for shaft grounding through our Mod-Express Program.
