Baldor Electric to Join American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign
Baldor Electric Company has partnered with the American Red Cross to install smoke alarms in one Oklahoma and three Arkansas cities Oct. 15.
Smoke alarms are set to be installed in Westville, Oklahoma and Ozark, Ft. Smith and Clarksville, Arkansas by Baldor Electric employees in conjunction with American Red Cross workers and local fire departments. Due to the support and generosity of donors like Baldor Electric, a member of the ABB group, there is no cost to the resident.
“We are absolutely dependent on members of the community stepping up and supporting our mission,” said Brad Barghols, American Red Cross regional chief executive officer. “We feel fortunate to have an opportunity to stand with Baldor Electric Company and help decrease the number of home fire deaths in Arkansas and Oklahoma.”
Per capita, Arkansas ranks second and Oklahoma ranks third in home fire deaths by state.
The American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign was launched in October 2014 with the goal of decreasing home fire death and injuries by 25 percent by 2020.
“We are happy to partner with the Red Cross and local fire departments to raise the awareness of home fire preparedness,” said Mike Ballman, Baldor’s Director of Environmental, Health and Safety. “Our hope is that we can save our neighbor’s lives by not only improving the equipment in their homes, but, more importantly, raising their level of awareness.”
To date, the campaign has installed more than 260,000 smoke alarms in more than 4,000 cities across America. To learn more about how to keep your family safe or how to contribute visit www.redcross.org/homefire.
