Lewis, Bollinger, Electric Motor Service and Baldor A Successful Environmentally Friendly Team
May 4, 1999
Lewis Corporation, a southeast Idaho manufacturer; Bollinger Enterprises, an Idaho based consulting firm; Electric Motor Service, Baldor's good distributor from Idaho FaIts, Idaho; and Baldor Electric Company, a Fort Smith, Arkansas based manufacturer of energy saving industrial electric motors and drives, have formed a very successful environmental team.
The team's product, The Bollinger Briquette Press, is the first of its kind to transform coal dust into industrial briquettes that can be recycled as fuel...and in the process reduce pollution from mining and power production. The 42 ton press takes in coal dust mixed with a binding agent. Then large drums (powered by Baldor 300 HP, 8 pole, 5011 Frame motors) compress the coal
dust and binding material into compact briquettes that can be sold to mining companies or recycled as fuel by electrical utilities burning coal to generate power.
Bob Majcher, Baldor's Salt Lake City District Manager, says, "There will be many more presses, and we hope our motors will be on all of them. Baldor earned the order for several reasons."
"First, Brad Kellog from Electric Motor Service, did a very good job building
relationships and giving the customer the confidence that Baldor had the product and could perform. Secondly, Baldor was able to produce the engineering data for this motor very quickly and accurately, so there was no delay with Lewis' engineering of the press. Thirdly, Baldor's delivery of the motor was better that the competition."
"This was a very 'fast track' job," continues Majcher, "and Baldor was considered superior in all three of the areas mentioned. I was really proud of all the Baldor people involved and Electric Motor Service did a great job with the Lewis people."
"We have successfully used Baldor on a lot of other applications," says Lewis' President, Richard Lewis. "We were very satisfied with the product, the accurate and timely product information, the distributor service and our good relationship with Brad Kellog."
Baldor is known as an environmentally friendly company, and we are proud to join with Lewis, Bollinger, and Electric Motor Service on a project that recycles industrial waste.
