    The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and a coalition of energy advocates submitted a petition to the Department of Energy to increase efficiency in industrial electric motors not covered under the latest small motor rule. A Final Rule was issued in March, 2014 which will broaden the scope of coverage left behind from the Energy Independence & Security Act (EISA) of 2007. The Integral Horsepower Rule will go into effect June 1, 2016 and supersede the EISA 2007 laws.
